Mystery Jets are of the Indie genre and use very experimental effects in their music videos. Ghostly layering has been used to make it seem like there are three singers instead of one. The band and protagonist move and leave a blurred image showing their movement in slow motion. I like these effects, yet they wont be relevant for our music video. However, I do like the ghostly layering effects which we may use in our media text. There are a mixture of narrotive and performance shots, yet these performance shots are not of the band playing their instruments but singing. This includes the whole band as well as the singer. I like this as it is different, yet Pistola Kick's audience may not reconise this. I also like this narrative and performance combination as it adds variety. My favourite effect in this music video is when two band members jump out of another whilst jumping in mid air - this is very effective but unrelevant to our music video. However, the close up shot of the protagonist's eyes is even more effective and we could use something similar in our music video.
'Meantime' by The Futureheads:
The Futureheads are also of the Indie genre and use experimental style music videos to promote their songs. This music video uses split screens and multi-coloured props [telephones] to express the narrotive of the song instead of using narrotive shots. I like the use of instrumeht split screens as we could use this technique in our music video to add variety and an experimental style. This means this music video is enirely experimental and performance. The whole band is singing which shows that not all Indie music videos have the vocalist singing, we could play with this idea in our music video to create abstract realism. Pistola Kicks's audience would like this as they like their music realistic yet adventourus at the same time.
'I'm Not Sorry' by The Pidegon Detectives:
This music video by The Pidgeon Detetctives is in black and white colouring, both with the performance and narrotive shots. This reflects the narrotive of the song it is promoting. I like this as this technique could work very well with our music video in expressing the narrotive. In tern this will attract the audience. There are full band performance shots as well as indervidual ones which creates visual variety. We could use this technique in our music video as it would suit our song well. The band are performing and also acting out the narrative yet only the vocalist is singing. This shows that the narrotive shots could include the band as well as an actor depending on the song.
